Common Cooktop Problems We Fix
Gas Burner Not Igniting
The most common gas cooktop complaint we get. If a burner clicks but will not light, or will not click at all, the igniter is usually worn out or dirty. It can also be a clogged burner cap or a moisture issue after cleaning. We diagnose the exact cause and fix it correctly.
Igniter Clicking Constantly
A gas cooktop igniter that keeps clicking after the burner is already lit or turned off is almost always caused by moisture around the igniter electrode or a worn igniter switch. Make sure burner caps are dry and properly seated. If the clicking continues, the switch needs to be replaced.
Electric Burner Not Heating
On coil cooktops a burner that does not heat is usually a failed surface element or a bad infinite switch. On smooth top cooktops it is typically a failed radiant element beneath the glass. We carry common burner components on every truck and most heating repairs are done same visit.
Induction Cooktop Not Working
Induction cooktops that will not heat, show error codes, or do not detect cookware usually have a control board issue, a failed induction coil, or a power supply problem. Induction repairs require specific diagnostic knowledge β our technicians are trained on induction systems.
Cooktop Control Panel Not Responding
If the touch controls or knobs on your cooktop are not responding, it is usually a faulty control board, a damaged touchpad, or a wiring issue. We diagnose the specific cause and replace only what is needed.
Uneven Heating Across Burners
If some burners heat normally while others are weak or inconsistent, the issue could be a partially clogged burner on gas cooktops, a failing surface element on electric, or a control board issue on induction units. We test each burner individually to find the exact cause.
Cooktop Tripping the Circuit Breaker
An electric or induction cooktop that trips the breaker when turned on usually has a shorted heating element or a wiring fault. This is a safety issue β do not keep resetting the breaker. Call us and we will diagnose the electrical fault and repair it safely.
Gas Smell From Cooktop
A gas smell near your cooktop should always be taken seriously. It can be a loose gas line connection, a faulty gas valve, or a damaged burner component. Do not use the cooktop if you smell gas. Ventilate the area and call us right away.
Cracked Glass Cooktop Surface
A cracked smooth top or induction cooktop surface is both a safety hazard and a performance issue. Depending on the severity and the brand, we can advise on whether a glass replacement makes sense or whether a new unit is the better option. We always give you an honest assessment.
Cooktop Making Unusual Noises
Humming, buzzing, or rattling from an electric or induction cooktop during operation can point to a failing cooling fan, a loose component, or a relay issue on the control board. We identify the source and fix it correctly.
